Tons of Plastic Trash..

Take a look at this very interesting short video series being done that explores the garbage pile that is floating out in the Pacific Ocean. It’s a 12 part series, with the first 4 parts available for viewing and new episodes added each week. The role that plastics play in our lives has more than just environmental consequences due to the fact that Bisphenol A one of the main components of plastic packaging and bottles, has been shown to cause health problems. Scary stuff, really. I think it’s important to think before you buy something in a package because you have to remember the consequence of a plastic bottle or a plastic bag or of any sort of non reusable container..

I no longer buy bottled water, filtered tap water stored in a thermos is fine. I no longer will accept a plastic or paper bag at the grocery store, I always bring my man-bag with me =) Anytime I head to Trader Joes for groceries (who really are heavy on the packaging with all the prepared foods =/ ) I bring my own bags.. I do recycle 90% the packaging I use on a daily basis, except for those plastics which cannot be recycled. Think before you buy is a good rule to follow..
