Well, I had to post this story as any animal story like this makes me sad.
Remember last year when the swam was in love with a paddle boat? Well now this humpback whale calf named Colin is following a yacht around the Sydney, Australia harbor, thinking it’s his mother and looking to nurse. If he doesn’t find his mom or a foster mom he may not survive, as it’s not possible to get humpback whale milk from whales in captivity. I’m hoping he finds a way to make it…
UPDATE… Looks like they have put a call out to some international experts to help rescue Colin.
After The Daily Telegraph learned of plans to euthanase the whale - christened Colin - Environment Minister Verity Firth has directed the Department of Environment to call in international experts, including Sea World in San Diego, in a final effort to save the infant whale.
Last night, the department’s science officers were consulting vets from Taronga Zoo on options to feed the struggling infant - named Colin after a National Parks and Wildlife officer who first tried to rescue him - until a rescue strategy could be devised. Ms Firth said hope had not been lost but the campaign to save Colin appeared to leave wildlife welfare groups SeaWorld, ORCCA and the RSPCA on their own after they suggested nothing could be done.
